Partnering with My Women Clients is at the Core of My Work

My goal in working with my counseling clients is to form an equal partnership in which I listen with suspended judgment, deep respect and a sense of shared consciousness.

Although there are times of serious discrimination and analysis, the basis for the therapeutic alliance is the understanding that I, as the therapist am not the expert on your life, nor am I in a position of superiority.

My counseling practice is mostly holistic in nature and incorporates transpersonal therapy. The goal of transpersonal work is to focus on the Essential or Higher Self beyond the “mask” we wear. This ideology is the basis of holistic or transpersonal work, which integrates the spiritual traditions of the world with contemporary psychology. It means that I honor your process and help you discover your deepest inner guidance as you create a richer and more meaningful life.

The self-help guru, Tony Robbins once said, “Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”  My role as your counselor is to assist you in asking those “better questions” so that you can access those “better answers” for yourself.

Although problems are what bring people to therapy, and they are an important part of our discussions, we don’t just focus on the negatives.  Part of my approach is to help you discover and draw on your strengths and unique gifts to improve your life.

Counseling Approach and Methods

Because I work from a holistic perspective, I focus on the mind, body, spirit connection. For example, I might explore how your physical body is “speaking” to you, how your dreams appear to you, as well as the role symbols, metaphors and synchronistic events play out in your life.

I am trained in a variety of very effective counseling methods which help access the emotional mind including hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) Integrative Breath Work, guided imagery, women’s healing circles, meditation and mindfulness. I work with individuals, couples, and groups.

My counseling style is eclectic in that I use whatever counseling methods seem most suited to your needs.

How Counseling Works

Format of Counseling Sessions:

I work with people via telemedicine or in person in my office.

The First Counseling Session

During your first counseling session, my focus is on understanding your concerns and therapy goals. During this visit you will have the opportunity to get to know a bit about my therapy style and determine our compatibility in working together.

The Second Counseling Session

On the second therapy visit we will review you goals, establish our course of action, and go over the plan that I will present to you. During this therapy visit, we will discuss how often we will meet and for approximately how long.

Subsequent Counseling Sessions

We will continue to work together in counseling until you reach your goals. Your goals will be reviewed periodically to make sure that you we are on track and modify them if necessary. Choosing to see a counselor takes courage and a willingness to grow and change. Therapy is not for everyone. For those who do make the commitment the rewards are great.
